I sure can relate to this. Thanks.
just say thanks and walk away
"Practice taking a deep breath before reaching for food and ask yourself, "Am I truly hungry?" Perhaps it is anger, embarrassment or discomfort that has you wanting to eat, not the need to fuel yourself because it is an appropriate time to partake in a meal or snack."
Wise words! I can be impulsive, and sometimes if I feel the urge to eat something, I just do it without putting any thought into it. It's much better to slow down, think, and maybe drink several sips of water before eating anything.
A woman at my square dance club made uncomfortable remarks as I was losing my 100+ pounds (such as she couldn’t give up her cookies and other comments). When I gained my weight back it was very hard for me to return to my club. When I finally did, I tried to avoid the unsupportive woman. But she found a seat at my table and asked me what happened. She was being nosy and her comments felt hurtful to me. Words can hurt as much as sticks and stones. At the time, I had a few short phrases ready to say to her and that helped me.
Simply smile and say thank you.
Whoa this is way out there for me. Say Thank you-Sounds like self-esteem issues & not about compliments. You do what you need to do for your healthy self-Positive OR negative looks & comments may be a part of that-Who cares!!! U doing this for you or for "All Others" that may have something to say?? Love Yourself!!
good information, thanks
This happens to me ALL THE TIME. AS SOON AS I HAVE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT THEN SELF-SABOTAGE SETS IN.
AS A CONSEQUENCE I AM FINDING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LOSE WEIGHT
I lost weight average 20-25 lbs a year over 3 years. People started making inquires if I was sick after I had lost 40. Ended up losing 65.
