the view from my (meow) prison...

Friday, November 09, 2018

Last night, as my husband and I ate dinner in the dining room, we heard the cat moving around in the kitchen. It got a little noisy, so, alarmed, we got up and looked. We were calling, "Mia! Where are you?" Then we got a glimpse of this:

She climbed over the toaster oven and was sitting in a tiny space behind it in the corner. Not sure if she was able to get out again. Not sure if she wanted to. But I moved things around so she could meander her way out. Funny cat. I could read her expression here as, "Help ME! I've fallen behind the toaster oven and I can't get out!!" Or as, "What the heck do you want now? Leave me alone, for God's sake!" Who really knows?

So I joined Weight Watchers at Work. My company is paying for it. Unbelievable! I'm lucky to work for such a place. We had our first meeting; 29 people, 3 of these men. I have the website and the app, and feel a little anxious about more changes to my diet after switching over to mostly vegan food. I've found that they do accommodate vegetarians and vegans. Tofu and beans are free foods, as are chicken and other animal proteins. So I am hoping it will be a good supplement to SparkPeople. If not, at least I tried WW. I'm committed to SP.

We have a chat program at work, and now we have a WW members only chat. Is fun to see how people react and what they say about changing their habits.

I have to step back, learn the WW ropes, and examine what habits I need to change, implement, or just drop. We start to relax too much when we are not paying attention!

OH COOL I joined WW for free through my health clinic. Just a warning--beans and tofu are free but things like seitan are not. I joined for the same reason you did, to supplement my SP when I gained some weight back. I go to a meeting twice a month. It's a little difficult as I go to a food pantry twice a month. But I went to one this morning and I got 3 blocks of tofu! And lots of fruit and vegetables, so I should be not having as hard time as I am making for myself. I have been eating too many whole eggs for my cholesterol though. Eggs are free points and inexpensive. I am primarily vegetarian.

There is a WW team here on SP and I joined it too. Go-go WW and SP!

NOTE: I felt pressured by WW to only track using their tracker but I still use the SP nutrition tracker as well, to follow my sodium and cholesterol intake. Not sure if the pressure I felt was just me or WW or WW members, though.

She is looking for a cozy spot to spend the winter, lol. All the best with WW, certainly helpful that it is offered at your workplace.
